Setting of Farenheit 451

The setting of "Fahrenheit 451" is in the future, sometime in the 24th century, in and around an unspecified city.  Right now it is taking place in the streets of the city at night when pretty much nobody is out and the main character Guy Montag meets a mysterious young girl named Clarisse.  A quote from the book providing details of the setting is,  "He walked out of the Fire Station and walked on the street toward the subway where the silent air-propelled train slid soundlessly down its lubricated flue."  (Page 2) This shows setting because it describes the place around him. what do you think a flue is?

blog post final stuff

This post has met the requirement/standards of the rubric, because it has connections to imagery, and provides real quotes.  It also provides real quotes from the book and examples of imagery, and how the author uses it to help create the setting.  It also has pictures of the setting, which helps with the imagery and setting part of the post.
My goals for the next trimester are to blog more and get better at blogging while I’m reading, not after I’m done reading.  My other goal is to read more books because it will help me learn better.  I want to improve better with my writing because it will help me later on with school.  My areas for improvement are my writing skills and understanding of reading.  The writing skills I need improvement on are my diction and wording, also I need to work on my connections.

SeTtInG pOsT #1

I am still reading, "House of Hades". The setting of the book is in present day Greece.  I know this because the author states that the must head to Greece.  This is said at the beginning of the book when they were at Rome, Italy.
 Rome. Italy

 Greece

 distance from Rome to Greece
That is the path they are taking but there are obstacles that they have to go around

They use imagery in the book to extend the moments and make them more suspenseful.  This is shown through capitalization, sentence structure, and figurative language/dialogue.  An example of this is, "Black and green spots appeared in his vision and a bunch of air leaked through his lungs." This shows imagery through word choice, because, words like leaked make you visualize the scene better.

blog post

Im reading a new book called, "House of Hades" it is written by Rick Riordan.  Im not far into the book and i have already noticed connections between This and the TV show, "The Walking Dead."  A connection i found between them is that they are getting chased by a group of people, that have much more numbers than them, and they have one friend in the opposite group trying to bring peace.  Another connection i found is that whenever one of them gets away from the rest of the group, they end up getting caught in a trap.  An example of them both getting caught is that in the book, Nico gets separated from the group and he gets caught in a trap made by giants, and in Walking Dead, T-bone gets separated from the group and gets caught in a zombie trap and gets eaten.  This is a good book and i reccommend you reading it

Character

\

I am reading Mocking jay.  i am at the middle to finish part of the book.  I am finding connections to other books and the real world already.  The Character Katniss Everdeen has been brought to the Capital and is filming stuff so that more people join the rebels.  She gets caught in the capitol and separated from the rest of her groups.  I predict she will Hunt down president snow and bring him back to the rebels. a connection to my life is being separated from my family as a kid in the grocery store.  a text to text connection is in the book eleventh plague, where they got separated from the town when the enemies came.  A connection to the world is the rebellion inside a country, and in other countries, rebels are against there government.

Post 2

I am still reading Mocking-jay.  i'm at the middle part of the book where Katniss has accepted being the mockingjay, and they started filming her so that the rebels could recruit more.  I predict that next more people will join the rebellion.  The connection to real life is Uncle Sam because he helps recruit soldiers and so is katniss.

The book i am reading is Mocking-jay.  This blog takes place in the future where there are 13 districts and an evil government controls all of it except district 13.  The part of book i am at is where they are making the former winners of the hunger games fight each other. I predict in my book The Mocking jay Katniss and Peeta will go into the hunger games again because the president will make them and they will get out of it somehow.  i have a few questions that are, How did they get the names for the book?  How did they get the inspiration for the story?  Are any of the characters based on actual people?  A connection I made is text to text because this same thing happened in the eleventh plague but it was a smaller group and they made people fight each other.  another connection i made is text to television because I saw a television show that they made families fight other families to the death and the winners fought each other again but they got caught and were put in jail.
