I am still reading, "House of Hades". The setting of the book is in present day Greece.  I know this because the author states that the must head to Greece.  This is said at the beginning of the book when they were at Rome, Italy.

That is the path they are taking but there are obstacles that they have to go around

They use imagery in the book to extend the moments and make them more suspenseful.  This is shown through capitalization, sentence structure, and figurative language/dialogue.  An example of this is, "Black and green spots appeared in his vision and a bunch of air leaked through his lungs." This shows imagery through word choice, because, words like leaked make you visualize the scene better."
